Meeting Notes (taken by Michele Beasley):

Location: The Configuration Management Working Group (CMWG) meeting was held at the Sully Government Center, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, VA on Monday, 9 March 2015 at 6:00 pm. It has been a few years since the last formal CMWG meeting was conducted.

Dinner: The meeting kicked off with a delicious dinner brought in from Kabob Chanab, located in the Mclearen Square Shopping Center at 3035 Centreville Rd, Oak Hill, VA 20171.

Attendee introductions: Each meeting attendee provided their name, employer, work experience, and CMWG expectations. Approximately sixteen people attended the meeting and the overall group experience included Agile/SCRUM, ITIL, CMMI, QA Testing, Export & Compliance, SW builds, Release Management, Enterprise CM, SharePoint and Cloud Technology

Discussion topics:

Standing up three (3) new committees

A location committee will be responsible for finding locations to hold the CMWG meetings. If you would like to join the committee or know of a location that can hold 25 attendees please contact the CMWG board
A technical presentation committee will be responsible for coordinating speakers to give briefings. If you would like to join the committee, know of a speaker, or can make a presentation yourself, please contact the CMWG board
A product committee will develop a list of vendors that can provide demonstrations. If you would like to join the committee, know a vender representative, or suggest a toll to be presented, please contact the CMWG board
Please send in any thoughts or recommendations by 27 March so that we can start the planning for our next meeting.

Questions, recommendations, and comments:

Update CMWG Mission; Vision statement
Expand the CMWG presence to include Meet-ups, Facebook
Understanding CMÕs role in SCRUM/Agile
Frequency of CMWG meetings
Volunteers needed to support the new committees
Take field trips (e.g. Data Center)
Learn new technologies (e.g. DevOps, CHEF)
Network with one another to help CMWG members seeking new employment
Hold CMWG meeting throughout DC/VA/MD
For future meetings, prepare and post an Agenda
Provide a point of contact list of CMWG members
Consider using PayPal to allow prepayment for the meal

The CMWG meeting concluded with Board of Director member and CMWG Webmaster, Jeff Parnes asking for names of any CMWG members interested in joining the Board of Directors. If you're interested in volunteering and/or have Agenda items please send an email to Jeff at webmaster@cmwg.org.

Michele Beasley offered to help out as placements coordinator. Jobs will be posted on the website and references to them will be sent out to the CMWG distribution list. We can also post resumes as necessary. Please send any items for posting to Michelle at placements@cmwg.org.

The next CMWG is scheduled for May 2015 and details will be provided. If no alternate locations are forthcoming we will attempt to reserve the Sully Facility for the May meeting.
